New RYZ Winners!
After three weeks of voting the RYZ nation has spoken! Two designs emerged victorious among the 83 total designs submitted. We want to thank everyone for their great designs and can’t wait to see what you all come up with next. So without further ado, drumroll please . . . .dada dadaaaaaaa. . .
RYZ’s contest 3’s winners are Cables and Kicking Television
Cables was designed by Flew the Coop. After a few avoided phone calls designer Peter Van Dam finally let curiosity get the better of him and finally answered my call. After relaying the awesome news that his design had won he simply stated, “oh ok cool.” Peter says that he created his design “ because I wanted something that had a clean feel but also had something to look at. The cables filled both of those by giving the shoe a pattern as well as an image. ”. He spends his free time bowling and working and eagerly awaiting that check for a grand so he can blow it on more games of bowling we suppose.
Kicking Television was designed by JenJen. A local Portlander, Jen Kilcoyne is no stranger to RYZ. She participated in our first launch event and after coming in third decided to refine her design and resubmitted, hoping that this time the voters would show her some more love. Well she thanks all of you who did vote and was super excited when I called to tell her the news she screamed like a 13yr old girl swooning over the Jonas bros. Jen described her design as an “ode to a time when TV station's actually signed-off for the night while playing the National Anthem and displaying the image of Marines planting the American flag atop of Mount Suribachi right before going to static. This usually occurred after a back-to-back episode of Love Connection. It's a tribute to growing up in the 70s, being a latch key kid, watching WAY too much television and to Poltergeist fans everywhere. "Do NOT go into the light."
